Game of Thrones is HBO‘s adaptation of George R. R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire. The show has most recently completed its fifth season. Season six will likely be airing on HBO some time in the spring of 2016.
The show itself, though, is just the most recent (and perhaps now the most visible) chapter in a large artistic endeavor by George R. R. Martin. It began with the books, the first of which (A Game of Thrones) appeared in 1996. So far, the series comprises five books, the most recent of which, A Dance with Dragons, was published in July of 2011. The Dothraki language is a part of the show, which itself is a part of the larger work.
